\n Sylvia Longmire is a documentary filmmaker, accessible travel writer, and disability rights advocate based in Central Florida. A service-disabled US Air Force veteran, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005 and became a full-time wheelchair user in 2014. She hasn\u2019t taken a step since 2016 \u2014 yet she still walks, runs, and dances every night in her dreams. That contradiction is what led her to create Walking Dreams<\/em>, her debut feature-length documentary investigating why the overwhelming majority of wheelchair users share this same experience.<\/p>\n

Sylvia directs, produces, and narrates Walking Dreams<\/em>, bringing both an investigator\u2019s instincts (she\u2019s a former Air Force Office of Special Investigations agent) and a lifetime of firsthand experience to the project. Her first short documentary The View From Down Here<\/em>, shot entirely from a wheelchair user\u2019s perspective, is currently in festival submission. Her second short documentary, Given the Chance<\/em>, is in post production.<\/p>\n

Outside of filmmaking, Sylvia is the founder of the accessible travel blog Spin the Globe, where she\u2019s documented her solo travels through 59 countries \u2014 49 of them in a wheelchair. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times<\/em>, Lonely Planet, The Orlando Sentinel<\/em>, and New Mobility magazine, and she\u2019s the author of four accessible travel books. A former Ms. Wheelchair USA, she is also the Orlando Museum of Art\u2019s first wheelchair-using docent and a proud single mom to two teenage boys.<\/span>\n <\/div>\n\n<\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

The film moves through six everyday spaces that have likely gone unnoticed by most people. No interviews, no faces.
